Lamont Dance Studio has a lot to offer with 3 fully equipped studios in Avalon featuring a tarkett dance floor, mirrors, barres, sound systems and cooling. Styles range from our "Baby Ballerina's" (3 year olds) through to our "Advanced Senior Classes". Classes offered are: Classical Ballet (RAD), Modern Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Disco Kids, Baby Ballerina's, Boys Funk and Eisteddfod Classes.

classical ballet

Students are taught the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus: they can choose to undertake the RAD examinations, held twice yearly. Ballet assists students by developing their balance, co-ordination, flexibility and muscular strength. Grade 2 Ballet students and above are required to participate in 2 ballet classes per week.

jazz

Students will learn the Jazz Syllabus that will be taught at an appropriate level for each age. Each student will attain a thorough knowledge of jazz technique. Jazz style is similar to pop stars music video clips and pop concerts such as Rikki Lee and Kylie Minogue.

boys funk

A Street style earth bound dancing. Funky movements with a base beat, great for the boys and a good introduction to hip hop. Boys funk is for boys aged 4-8.

hip hop

Students will learn the Hip Hop Syllabus. Hip Hop style has originated from rap and pop culture. Hip Hop is a funky street style that involves intricate abrupt movements and isolations of the body. Music video's from Usher and Destiny's Child will give you an idea of the style.

tap

Students will learn Glenn Wood's Australian Contemporary Tap Syllabus. Those students seeking their inner beat can tap their way to Fred Astaire or Dean Perry.

modern contemporary

Fluid and expressive movements based on ballets principles encouraging the students to develop their communication with the audience. Modern-day lyrical music to a tribal ethnic beat is used in class.

disco kids

A jazz style based class for pre-school students. Students begin with the basics learning direction and begin coordinated movements. Music used is familiar to the child with songs from groups such as Hi Five. Disco Kids for girls and boys aged 3 to 4 years.

baby ballerina's

A classical based class for pre-school students. Students begin with the basics of classical ballet learning steps through imagery. Also learning direction and coordinated movement steps like skips and marches.
